Art of Her

My name is Laura Allen, creative mind by nature, creative mind at heart. I have been in the beauty industry for over twenty years, and I still find myself just as passionate about it now, if not even more than before. I am proud, and fortunate to say that my career has lead me to be an artist at Artemis Ethos, a place that exudes the purest kindness, and creativity towards each client, something that feels extremely parallel to my heart, and my values.

I began my Art of Her collection during the start of the pandemic. Feeling the loss of my craft behind the chair, and my human connections with clients that I got so much out of, I had to place my creative energy into something that would nurture the passions that seemed to just be bursting out of me (it’s hard to contain this crazy ass sometimes).  Starving to use my hands creatively, I started to paint, stitch, and sew. What then followed was a collection of mostly women, each unique, each different, as we all should be! I combined beauty, fashion, individuality, with my personal story, and longtime battle with an eating disorder. Although all of these paintings hold a bit of my own story within them, they themselves are fighting for, and falling into self-love, self-comfort, self-appreciation. I have paired them all with poetry to express their individuality, to help them be seen. My mission with this collection is to start a conversation when it needs to be started, and to serve as a steady reminder to you, and anyone who may need reminding, that YOU are a unique beauty, and to always treat yourself with love + kindness.There’s no other that is YOU and there’s no fault in that,only beauty and power! What a boring world it would be if we were all the same! So let’s go ahead and celebrate your fine ass, OKAY!
